With Oliver Queen facing life in prison, his childhood friend Tommy Merlyn makes a startling return in a new promo for The CW's Arrow.

Collin Donnell makes his return to the DC series during Oliver's courtroom session, busting through a skylight dressed as the Green Arrow.

During an interview with TVLine earlier this month, the Chicago Med star was asked if a recent picture of him and fellow co-star Stephen Amell hinted at the actor returning to Arrow. “Yes, I will be,” Donnell answered. “And that’s pretty much all I can say about it.”

Donnell has appeared in previous episodes of Arrow since his character died in Season 1, but they all took place either in flashback sequences or this past November’s “Crisis on Earth-X” crossover between Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and DC's Legends of Tomorrow, which saw him briefly return as an evil Tommy Merlyn from an alternate Earth.

Unless this is an alternate Tommy Merlyn, his arrival would indicate Oliver's best friend is alive again. Of course, the episode titled "Docket No. 11-19-41-73" should provide more answers.
