Despite the odds, Arrow star Stephen Amell promises the series will get a happy ending when it concludes this fall.

"It's a super happy ending," Amell told GameSpot. "I think it's going to be a happy ending."

This echoes what he said at the show's Comic-Con International panel: "Arrow has a happy ending," he said at the time, staring deadpan into the crowd. "You know I always tell you the truth in plain sight."

Executive producer Marc Guggenheim seemed to lend credence to that idea, saying, "We always go into these things with the best of intentions... We're trying so had to just entertain everybody and honor all of the things the fans want. We hope that everyone appreciates it on its own terms, the way we like to do things."

In the Season 7 finale, the Monitor appeared to Oliver and told him to make good on his end of their "Elseworlds" deal. As such, Oliver will spend the show's eighth and final season traveling the multiverse, warning other realities about "the Crisis to come." However, the Monitor seemed to know how this story ends for the Emerald Archer: "I've seen your future, Oliver, inexorable and unavoidable. I have watched you die."

Of course, that doesn't exactly sound like a "happy ending." However, the Monitor's words may not have been as straightforward as they appeared. After all, in the flash-forward storyline, Felicity Smoak met with the Monitor and asked to be taken to "see him," heavily suggesting she will reunite with Oliver.  Until "Crisis on Infinite Earths," though, it's hard to tell exactly where Oliver's story is leading.

Returning Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Arrow stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Rick Gonzalez as Wild Dog, Juliana Harkavy as Black Canary, Katie Cassidy as Black Siren, Katherine McNamara as Mia Smoak, Joseph David-Jones as Connor Hawke and Ben Lewis as William Clayton-Queen.
