Hours before the start of the eighth and final season of Arrow, The CW has released a new promo clip that brings a whole lot of questions.
The promo replays the opening scene of the series’ pilot almost shot for shot: a marooned Oliver Queen runs through the jungle and alerts a passing boat of his whereabout thanks to a well-placed flaming arrow.
However, it becomes quite clear that something's different when the famous shot of the Deathstroke mask with an arrow pierced through the eye socket is replaced with a Batman cowl. What’s more, when Oliver removes his cowl, he is not the long-haired and bearded castaway we met in Season 1.
This is bound to lead to plenty of speculation. Is this a new timeline? An alternate flashback? Another reality?
Moreover, The Monitor’s narration drives home the importance of Oliver Queen to the entire Multiverse, setting the stage for a mysterious final season that is meant to build up to the highly anticipated "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover.
Returning Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Arrow's final season stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Rick Gonzalez as Wild Dog, Juliana Harkavy as Black Canary, Katie Cassidy as Black Siren, Katherine McNamara as Mia Smoak, Joseph David-Jones as Connor Hawke and Ben Lewis as William Clayton-Queen.
