On The CW's Arrow, it's been a long and complicated road for Katie Cassidy's Laurel Lance. As the Earth-2 version of her character, Cassidy's Black Canary is on a road to redemption, ditching her life of crime to slowly embrace the path of a hero. And now, as the superhero series resumes its seventh season, it appears that path may lead to the formation of the Birds of Prey.

In an interview with TVLine, Arrow showrunner Beth Schwartz revealed that a Birds of Prey-inspired episode will be coming very soon.

When asked what was coming up for Laurel Lance in the back half of Season 7, Schwartz answered by naming the famous DC super-team. "Well, we are doing a Birds of Prey-inspired episode, that she will be involved with. And we’ll get to see what happens in her overall arc, in her redemption story — whether she is really redeemed as Black Siren and did she really turn over a new leaf, or is she still the same evil Black Siren that we saw last season."

Of course, Black Canary is only one member of the Birds of Prey. Naturally, as a follow-up question, TVLine asked the showrunner if we would be left guessing which other DC superheroines might show up in the episode, to which Schwartz simply answered: "Yep."

In the comic books, there are many characters who have been a part of the Birds of Prey -- some that we have seen on Arrow before, and some we have yet to. However, given that there are currently three Canary-related characters running around the Arrowverse with Dinah, Laurel and her sister Sara, perhaps the episode will simply feature a trio of Canaries as the Birds of Prey.

This will actually be the second episode of Arrow that features a Birds of Prey-inspired storyline. The appropriately-titled Season 2 episode "Birds of Prey" saw Helena Bertinelli's Huntress face off against Sara Lance's Canary -- however, the two never ultimately teamed up. This time however, perhaps Arrow will finally bring the team together.
