SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "Legacy," the "Arrow" Season 5 premiere.

Though Laurel Lance died midway through Season 4, "Arrow" has maintained a mystery about her final moments. Just before she passed on, she whispered into Oliver Queen's ear, but the show never revealed what she said to him -- until now. In "Legacy," the Season 5 premiere, the show flashed back to the night she died and revealed her last words once and for all.

As it turns out, Laurel had some idea that she wouldn't make it out of the hospital alive. On her deathbed, she made Oliver promise that she wouldn't be the last Canary; that is to say, that he would find someone to take up the mantle like she did following her sister's passing. Clearly distraught, he acquiesced to her request, and she flatlined only moments later.

Of course, when the show picked up, he wasn't exactly faithful to his promise. When confronted with vigilante Wild Dog, Oliver turned him away -- but not before shooting an arrow through his leg and telling him to quit. Felicity spent the episode trying to get it through Oliver's head that his old team wasn't coming back, even going so far to look into a few new recruits herself, but he wouldn't hear any of it.

That changed when Curtis Holt was assaulted and Oliver wasn't there to help him. Instead of following Oliver's advice, Wild Dog took to the streets and was there when Curtis needed him. Beaten and bruised, Curtis demanded that Oliver bring on the new team -- and asked to be part of it all as well.

Starring Stephen Amell as the Emerald Archer, "Arrow" airs Wednesdays at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW. The series also stars Emily Bett Rickards, David Ramsey, John Barrowman, Willa Holland and more.
