Arrow Leaves Oliver in a Tenuous Position After [SPOILER] Leaks

SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for “The Sin-Eater,” the latest episode of “Arrow.”

Oliver Queen is in trouble, and not as the Green Arrow. In “The Sin-Eater,” the latest episode of “Arrow,” Oliver had to deal with the consequences of killing Billy Malone. Though he was set up to kill Malone by Prometheus, that doesn’t change the fact that Oliver himself pulled the trigger — and now the police are in the know. What’s worse, that information has leaked to the public, setting up Oliver for impeachment.

In an effort to protect Green Arrow’s reputation, Oliver and Adrian Chase covered up Malone’s death. However, Lieutenant Pike soon discovered the truth and filled his officers in on the news. Soon after, the SCPD was chomping at the bit to arrest Green Arrow, which meant that Oliver had to try and recapture China White, Cupid and Liza Warner all while avoiding the police.

Oliver soon realized that he wouldn’t be able to convince Pike to drop the issue by personally endorsing Green Arrow, so he came clean and filled Pike in on the events that led to Malone’s death. He explained how Green Arrow was set up, and that Green Arrow couldn’t continue to do good for the city or stop Prometheus if the police got in his way. Though Pike had his reservations, he eventually let Green Arrow go, and his officers followed suit.

But that wasn’t the end of Oliver’s troubles. The next day, as he settled into his office, Chase ran in to tell him the bad news. The information about Billy’s death had leaked to the press, sparking talk of a mayoral cover up. A mayoral cover up would be more than enough for Oliver’s political enemies to call for impeachment, and an impeachment would undo everything Oliver had worked hard to accomplish as mayor.

Oliver wasn’t the only character to have their job on the line. Thanks to Thea and Felicity, Susan Williams lost her job and likely her career. When she realized Susan knew Oliver was the Green Arrow, Thea asked Felicity to plant false evidence on Susan’s computer. Soon, word had circulated that Susan had plagiarized her pieces for the better part of a year, and her boss terminated her immediately. Susan immediately connected the dots; the fake evidence had come up only after she had asked Oliver if he was the Green Arrow, and — though he had nothing to do with it — she blamed him and dropped all contact with him.

Airing Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, “Arrow” stars Stephen Amell, Emily Bett Rickards, David Ramsey, Willa Holland, Paul Blackthorne and Echo Callum.
