As Oliver and Mia spend more time together, the young fighter and future heir to the hood will no doubt be meeting many of Oliver's friends and enemies from his past. And, as Arrow heads to Russia for what could be its final episode set in the Motherland, one character in particular will stand out.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Katherine McNamara spoke about the Russia-centric episode and pointed to one character in particular that will take joy in meeting Oliver's daughter.
"I think Anatoly has quite an interesting interaction with Mia, given that he was so instrumental in Oliver becoming who he is," she said. "Seeing those qualities in Mia, it’s fun for him to not only watch Oliver try and be a parent but for him to see sort of an Oliver Jr. in Mia."
I’m also am a huge David Nykl fan," she continued. "So getting to work with him was just a dream because I love Anatoly so much. I think he’s such a great character, and having that interaction with so great."
Anatoly made his debut in Season 2, and has appeared sporadically throughout the series' run. At times he has been a valuable ally to Oliver and his teams. He has also clashed with Oliver on multiple occasions, working with Cayden James and Ricardo Diaz.
Airing Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Arrow's final season stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Rick Gonzalez as Wild Dog, Juliana Harkavy as Black Canary, Katie Cassidy as Black Siren, Katherine McNamara as Mia Smoak, Joseph David-Jones as Connor Hawke and Ben Lewis as William Clayton-Queen.
