SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "Spartan," the latest episode of Arrow.

Arrow may have just set up a new super team. In "Spartan," the latest episode, Felicity and Alena discussed the future of Smoak Tech and their ARCHER project. During this conversation, Alena namedropped William Magnus, the man who created the Metal Men in DC Comics continuity.

"I think I've found a way to help Smoak Tech soar," Alena said. "Yeah, there's someone interested in buying the company."

"It's just you, me and ARCHER," Felicity retorted. "Who would be interested in that?"

"Dr. Will Magnus," Alena replied, hardly able to contain her glee.

"What?! The Dr. Will Magnus?" Felicity asked. "The world's foremost authority on robots engineering? When I was CEO of Palmer Tech, he wouldn't return my calls."

"My friend at Magnus Labs says that ARCHER could really help Doc Magnus with these new A.I.s he's building," Alena explained. "I could get a meeting."

"Magnus Labs is the gold standard in Tech R&D! Oh my god, with their backing, we could expand ARCHER to be more than just a genetic tracking system or surveillance for the SCPD. I mean, it could be a bigger and better Overwatch system!"

Of course, the two were then interrupted by the Ninth Circle's faceless ninjas, who stole the ARCHER tech to find members of a covert government operation. Nevertheless, their conversation suggests the Metal Men may be in developing in some part of the Arrowverse.

Created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru in 1962's Showcase #37, the Metal Men are a superhero group created by Dr. William Magnus. In their earliest iteration, the Metal Men are advanced artificially intelligent robots who possess powers based on their composition. So, for instance, Gold can stretch his form, while Mercury can melt and reform. Other members include Copper, Iron, Lead, Tin and Platinum, aka Tina.

In mentioning Magnus and "these new A.I.s he's building," Arrow lays the groundwork for the Metal Men to join the Arrowverse in some capacity. Seeing as Arrow will conclude with Season 8, the landscape of the Arrowverse is set to change, which may pave the way for Metal Men to establish a foothold on The CW.

Airing Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Arrow stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, Rick Gonzalez as Wild Dog, Juliana Harkavy as Black Canary, Colton Haynes as Arsenal, Kirk Acevedo as Diaz and Katie Cassidy as Black Siren.
