About a third of the way through its seventh season, Arrow is getting ready to shift into a new storyline and head into a new direction. Back in September, we reported the addition of Katherine McNamara to the cast in a role that was at the time characterized as "Buffy the Superhero Slayer." The character's name was revealed to be Maya, and she was only described as a "thief and street fighter," but not much else is known past that.

Now, the CW has released the first shot of McNamara in action, preparing for what appears to be a cage fight.

While the TV Line-exclusive image gives us an idea of how she'll look, we still don't know exactly who McNamara's character is. Some fans have speculated that Maya could be a version of the DC character Onyx Adams, but Oynx already appeared on Arrow last season in the episode"Next of Kin," where she was played by Chastity Dotson.

While talking with E! News earlier this month, Katherine wasn't able to go into detail about her character, but did describe Maya as "very much the realist and the one to punch first and ask questions later. She’s not one to be underestimated or messed with." She also said  "there’s a lot to come from this character," which could mean practically anything.
