Arrow: John Barrowman May Return As Malcolm Merlyn

John Barrowman as Arrow's Malcolm Merlyn

Actor John Barrowman will reportedly return as Malcolm Merlyn in CW's Arrow Season 7.

According to SpoilerTV, Barrowman mentioned during a Torchwood panel at Supanova Comic Con & Gaming Expo in Brisbane, Australia, that he would return to the show "later this season." The report also mentions that Barrowman said he would possibly reveal his return on Instagram later that night. However, it doesn't seem that any such post materialized.

It's unclear in what capacity Barrowman will return to the role. He may be part of the upcoming "Elseworlds" crossover or appear in some other capacity entirely. Merlyn was seemingly killed at the end of Season 5. However, the character has escaped death before, and it wouldn't be unheard of for him to return. Barrowman said last year that he would not return to the role or the Arrowverse, though it's possible that has changed.

Airing Mondays at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW, Arrow stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, Rick Gonzalez as Wild Dog, Echo Kellum as Mr. Terrific, Juliana Harkavy as Black Canary, Colton Haynes as Arsenal, Kirk Acevedo as Diaz and Katie Cassidy as Black Siren.
