The casting frenzy continues for Warner Bros. DC Comics-themed television series. TV Guide reports "NYPD Blue" actress Charlotte Ross has been cast as Felicity Smoak's mother in "Arrow," while Deadline states that "Dexter" alum David Zayas has been cast as recurring "Gotham" character Salvatore Maroni.

In addition to being an alum of NYPD Blue, Charlotte Ross has also had roles on "Glee," "Hit the Floor" and "Nashville." While the full name of her character wasn't revealed, bringing Felicity Smoak's mother onto the show meshes with what the "Arrow" producers previously stated about season three -- namely, that there will be more revealed about Felicity and her past.

Meanwhile, Zayas' casting as Sal Maroni in "Gotham" represents a key character in the Batman mythology. As one of the Dark Knight's first enemies, Maroni is commonly depicted as a mob boss in the comics. He's also well known as the man who disfigured Harvey Dent, turning him into Two-Face. Maroni has shown up in the 1989 "Batman" film, "Batman Forever" and "The Dark Knight." Although Zayas is best known for "Dexter," he's also had roles on "The Blacklist," "Grimm" and "Law & Order."

"Arrow" returns to the CW on October 8. "Gotham" debuts September 22 on FOX.
