WARNING: This article contains mild spoilers for this week's episode of Arrow, "Tribute," which airs tonight on The CW.
Stephen Amell's Oliver Queen rattled continuity in a preview of this week's episode of Arrow, in which the mayor of Star City sought to discredit a photo that seemed to reveal him to be the masked vigilante Green Arrow by invoking the name of another billionaire in another city: Bruce Wayne. While the reference undoubtedly thrilled fans of the CW drama and DC comics, even if Fox's Gotham was left unconvinced.
"Photos can be doctored," Mayor Queen told the reporters gathered at city hall. "They could have put Bruce Wayne's head on that body. Has Bruce Wayne left Gotham to hang out in Star City recently? No."
While Oliver's question was rhetorical, designed to deflect scrutiny and keep his secret identity hidden, the Twitter account of Fox's Batman drama was quick to respond: "Bruce Wayne was still in Gotham last time we checked." It included the #Gotham hashtag and a bat emoji because ... of course it would.

We can only hope this is the start of a Twitter rivalry between the two Thursday night dramas, both starring billionaires turned vigilantes, akin to the barbs routinely exchanged on the social-media platform by Marvel's Netflix series.
