"Arrow" Exec Producer Teases A "Trilogy" Of Episodes Focusing on Black Canary

Warning: Spoilers ahead for The CW's "Arrow/The Flash" crossover -- airing December 2nd and 3rd -- and beyond.

Oliver Queen and Barry Allen's alter egos will be at the forefront of The CW's upcoming "The Flash/Arrow" crossover episodes, which means Laurel Lance's official debut as Black Canary will have to wait a bit longer. But when Laurel Lance (played by Katie Cassidy) is introduced as the Black Canary next year, it will be in a three-episode "trilogy."

In a spoiler-filled preview of the crossover, The Hollywood Reporter talked to the cast and crew from both shows, including executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, at an advance screening of the crossover Saturday night in Los Angeles. Kreisberg discussed Laurel's role in the crossover, and also revealed that she will take center stage for three episodes next year.

"Laurel appears in the 'Arrow' episode [of the crossover]," Kreisberg said. "She's not as present in these episodes, but that is because we've been building up to her appearance as the Black Canary. We sort of said that Sara was the Canary, but Laurel is the Black Canary. Episodes 10, 11 and 12 are a three-part trilogy that are about her. And episode 13 I think I can spoil, is called 'Canaries.' For fans of Laurel and for fans of Katie [Cassidy], they're going to get more than their fill after the winter break."

The "trilogy" news comes on the heels of The CW releasing shots of Cassidy suiting up as Black Canary earlier this month. In recent episodes, Laurel has been training with Ted Grant (J.R. Ramirez), to fill the Canary-sized void in the Lance family, following developments earlier in the season.
