SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "My Name is Emiko Queen," the mid-season premiere of Arrow Season 7.
Emiko Queen is a woman on a mission -- and now we know what that mission is. In "My Name Is Emiko Queen," the mid-season premiere of Arrow Season 7, she turned to Rene "Wild Dog" Ramirez for help when she got shot by a security guard. This led her to reveal exactly what she has been doing in Star City: seeking revenge.
During a heart-to-heart with Rene, Emiko revealed her mother had been killed. She grew up in the Glades, where she and her mother lived in an apartment together. One day, she came home to find the entire complex had been burned down, killing many of the tenants. However, the fire didn't kill her mother; a gunshot to the head did. Ever since she realized her mother had been murdered, she has been on a quest to find her mother's killer and bring him to justice.

Her search for her mother's killer culminated in "My Name Is Emiko Queen" -- almost. She traced the bullet down to a man called William Glen Morgan, who is a minor villain who goes by "Congo Bill" in the comics. The show's version of the character was far less mystical but formidable nonetheless; he held his own when he went toe-to-toe with Emiko. When she finally overcame him, he told her he had been on an undercover mission for two years and was far from Star City at the time of the murder. Emiko spared his life and later corroborated his story.
In despair, Emiko told Rene she had failed her mother. Rene reassured her that she hadn't and promised to help her find her mother's killer, even if that meant starting from scratch. As such, they will work together to solve the murder.

Rene isn't the only person who discovered Emiko's identity in the episode. Because she was shot, Emiko left blood at the crime scene. Felicity ran a DNA test on the blood to uncover the new Green Arrow's identity, only to discover she was Oliver's sister. He confronted her at their father's grave at the very end of the episode, though it cut away before the siblings could really react to one another.
Airing Mondays at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW, Arrow stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, Rick Gonzalez as Wild Dog, Echo Kellum as Mr. Terrific, Juliana Harkavy as Black Canary, Colton Haynes as Arsenal, Kirk Acevedo as Diaz, and Katie Cassidy as Black Siren. The series returns for the back half of Season 7 on Jan. 21.
