Arrow Star on Possibility of a Green Lantern Appearance

Arrow John Diggle Green Lantern

Since Season 1 of The CW's Arrow, David Ramsey has starred as the character John Diggle, who has since gone on to adopt the vigilante alter-ego of Spartan. However, the Arrowverse's recently-aired Elseworlds crossover event revealed that on Earth-90 (that is, the universe where the '90s Flash television series is set), John Diggle is the Green Lantern known as John Stewart.

At this time, it is unclear if The CW's plans for the future actually involve Diggle donning an emerald power ring, or if the connection will simply remain a wink and nod to DC fans. Nevertheless, Ramsey himself has given his own thoughts on the matter.

"We've been talking about that right since Season 1," the actor told TV Guide. "I always loved the idea of being able to jump into the John Stewart mythos, obviously, but I also loved the idea that we were creating something that didn't exist before."

"John Diggle never existed before," Ramsey continued. "We created this character, Spartan, that never existed in the comics or in any other universe, and now it's part of the comics. So that was always something and continues to be something I'm really proud of."

While Ramsey likes what has been done with John Diggle/Spartan, he knows any decision regarding John Stewart/Green Lantern is ultimately out of his hands, though it is very much still an angle Ramsey would like to try and tackle.

"But who can resist playing the Green Lantern? " he said. "So yeah, was I excited when I saw that? Without a doubt. Will it ever happen? Who knows. I don't have the answer to that - it's way above my paygrade - but it's something I would love to do."
