Colton Haynes will not be a series regular for Arrow's eighth and final season.

GreenArrowTV.com reports Haynes will not be a regular for the show's final season, though executive producer Beth Schwartz hopes he will reprise his role. "We hope to have him back," she said. "We love him and he’s obviously one of the foundations of the show."

Haynes' character Roy Harper was a fixture during Arrow's early seasons, evolving from Thea Queen's boyfriend to Oliver's sidekick. After becoming Arsenal and dealing with some Mirakuru rage, both Harper and Haynes left the series. While the actor would occasionally return for a cameo or small arc, Season 7 saw Haynes return to regular status as the show switched to flash-forwards and explored Star City in 2040.

Given Schwartz's comments, it's clear the door is still open for Arsenal to return. More intriguingly, a Star City 2040 spinoff is in the cards, meaning Green Arrow-centric stories could continue at The CW beyond Stephen Amell's departure.
