After playing the role of fan-favorite character Roy Harper in the CW's Arrowverse, actor Colton Haynes now wants to take a shot at the Marvel Cinematic Universe.Haynes has expressed interest in debuting in the MCU as a member of the X-Men. In a post on Twitter, the actor shared footage of a few seconds from 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past, in which Bobby Drake, AKA Iceman, played by Shawn Ashmore, is seen fending off an attack from sentinels by creating a wall of ice. Haynes added a raised hand emoji to the video, indicating his desire to take on the role of Iceman in future movies.

In the comics, Iceman is an Omega-level mutant with the ability to manipulate the temperature of moisture in the atmosphere around him, allowing him, among other things, to affect the natural ecosystem of the entire planet, rebuild his body from scratch, create ice-based structures to do his bidding and change his size and shape as needed. Before his live-action debut, Iceman was one of the three leads of the 1981 cartoon show Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends.

Now that Disney owns the film rights to the mutant superhero team, the X-Men will be making their MCU debut in the coming years with a new cast. Many actors have expressed interest in portraying the new generation of X-Men characters, from Janelle Monáe wanting to play Storm to Keanu Reeves admitting it was his childhood dream to play Wolverine.

What makes Haynes' desire to play Iceman particularly interesting is that the ice-powered superhero has come out as gay in the comics, which is an aspect of Bobby Drake that went unexplored in Fox's X-Men movies. Many fans love the idea of Haynes, who is also openly gay, taking charge of Iceman's journey within the MCU.
