Arrow veteran Ben Lewis revealed that the show's cast is ready to return for the planned spinoff, Green Arrow and the Canaries, if The CW decides to pick it up.

"I haven't heard anything about it in quite a while," Lewis told TVLine in a recent interview about his new holiday movie. "I was always sort of a little bit out of the loop because I was not contractually attached to it the way that Katie [Cassidy] and Juliana [Harkavy] and Kat [McNamara] were, so I don’t really know."

He went on to explain that he loved working with that trio of actors and "would never say no to the opportunity to work with them again."

"But it’s been over a year now. I don’t know," he added. "You would have to ask them about the status of it. But if it ever happens, I would be thrilled, because I love those women."

Lewis also talked about how he would love to find some resolution with his Arrow character William Clayton, who was kidnapped at the end of the series, noting, "It would be so sad if that was the last time that you ever saw William." He continued, "I think he deserves a lot better, and I was constantly pushing, particularly in the last season and when we were talking about the spinoff, for him to have a love interest. I would love to see that. I would love to see how William Clayton spent the holidays with his partner."

When Arrow ended earlier this year, it set up the potential Green Arrow and the Canaries spinoff -- which would follow the heroic adventures of Mia Smoak (Kat McNamara), Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) and Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy) in the year 2040. Arrow producer Marc Guggenheim last gave an update about the spinoff back in August, when he said, "I'm not entirely sure if there's another chapter to be had at this moment in time."

And while Lewis admitted that he doesn't think "anything is official" when it comes to the Arrowverse spinoff, he added, "It feels like if there was forward momentum with it, that the pandemic, obviously, threw a wrench in that, as it has with numerous, countless things. I loved playing that character."

While it's unclear if the William Clayton character will appear on the show, Lewis currently stars opposite his real-life husband Blake Lee in Lifetime's new film, The Christmas Setup. The film is the network's first LGBTQ+ Christmas movie.
