Susanna Thompson, best known to genre fans for her guest roles on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager, will play the wealthy mother of bad boy turned vigilante Oliver Queen in The CW's Arrow pilot, Deadline reports.

She'll join Stephen Amell (Hung) and David Ramsey (Dexter) in the newly greenlit project from Green Lantern screenwriters Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim and Fringe co-executive producer Andrew Kreisberg loosely based on DC Comics' Green Arrow.

Described by a CW executive as "very provocative and sophisticated and edgy," Arrow follows young, brash Oliver Queen, who after spending five years shipwrecked on an island in the South China Sea, returns to Star City with a mastery of the bow and a determination to make a difference.

According to a leaked character breakdown, Thompson's Moira Queen has remarried during the disappearance of her son and husband, and has control of the family's billions. As such, she's keenly interested in learning whether Oliver's father will turn up unexpectedly, ruining her new marriage and inspecting the books.

Thompson starred on ABC's Once and Again and NBC's Kings, and appeared as the Borg Queen on two episodes of Star Trek: Voyager. She also guest-starred as Lenara Kahn in "Rejoined," the then-controversial 1995 episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine that depicted her character kissing Terry Farrell's Jadzia Dax.
