While the CW's slate of superhero TV shows has usually focused on the action, lead series "Arrow" has also never shied from soap operatics. And that's an angle the series will be playing up more with its latest casting addition.

ET Online has the word that the series has added actor Parker Young in what it describes as "a meaty recurring role" in Season 4 of the DC Comics-inspired drama. Young will play original (or at least seemingly original) character Alex Davis -- a young man who takes a job for Oliver Queen and ends up wooing his sister Thea. Previously the actor starred in ABC's "Suburgaory" and Fox's "Enlisted."

The addition adds a little spice into Speedy actress Willa Holland's storyline while her usual love interest Roy Harper remains out of the picture after actor Colton Haynes contract was not renewed for the full fourth season. However whether the character of Alex Davis (a name unknown to the comic book DC Universe) will end up taking on a costume as Thea's last boyfriend remains unseen.

"Arrow" returns with new episodes on October 7.
