"Spartacus" alum and "Star Trek Into Darkness" actor Nick Tarabay has been cast as Digger Harkness, better known to comic book fans as Captain Boomerang, on the upcoming second season of "Arrow." According to EW.com, the "Arrow" version of the character will be a "former A.R.G.U.S. operative, highly skilled in martial arts and espionage, with a deadly thirst for vengeance against his former employers." The character will first appear in the series' seventh episode this season.

While "Arrow" has certainly never limited itself to the particular rogues gallery of its comic book counterpart, the selection of Captain Boomerang as a villain on the series is certainly intriguing, given that the character is usually more associated with The Flash's Rogues. However, given that there will be a tether between both "Arrow" and "The Flash," there's no stopping Digger Harkness from showing up in both shows, making him a thorn in both Oliver Queen and Barry Allen's respective sides. However, no plans were mentioned for the character beyond his "Arrow" appearance.

Tarabay joins a number of actors set to expand the villains of Starling City, including Matt Nable as Ra's al Ghul, Amy Gumenick as Cupid, Matt Ward as Komodo and more.

"Arrow" season three debuts October 8 on The CW.
