Zack Snyder revealed the title of the upcoming Army of the Dead prequel ahead of the first film's debut.

The director shared the prequel film's title during a Q&A following the first Army of the Dead trailer. "We just wrapped on Army of Thieves," Snyder explained. "We see [Dieter's] backstory and how he fell in love with and got obsessed with cracking safes. And why the safe in the movie is significant to him, which it is."

Snyder also teased the second prequel venture, which he described as an anime-inspired series that "tells the story of where the zombies came from and what their deal is. It goes to Area 51 and does a whole a bunch of psychedelic craziness, which is cool. Let's just say it scales in a way that's unexpected as far where the zombies come from."

Army of the Dead was written by Snyder, Joby Harold and Shay Hatten and follows a group of human mercenaries -- led by Dave Bautista's Scott Ward -- who survived a zombie apocalypse and are hired to retrieve $200 million from a safe in the basement of an abandoned Las Vegas casino. However, the casino is located in the middle of a zombie horde.

Snyder, who also directed the 2004 reboot of Dawn of the Dead, revealed during the Q&A that helming Army of the Dead "was probably the most gratifying experience I've had making a movie."

"Everything about it was fun...Everyone's been incredibly supportive and just a joy to work with," the director shared. "This is the movie, there's no other cuts of the movie. I didn't have to fight them -- it was the opposite. This is the director's cut. You don't have to see a bastardized version, you just get to see the awesome version first."

In addition to sharing details about the prequel projects, Snyder teased that he'd be open to directing a sequel if the franchise does well. "If it were possible, or if anyone was interested in it to continue the adventures of this world will be fun," he confirmed.

Following a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, a group of mercenaries takes the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.

Directed and co-written by Zack Snyder, Army of the Dead stars Dave Bautista, Garret Dillahunt, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Raul Castillo, Tig Notaro, Theo Rossi and Ana de la Reguera. The film arrives on Netflix May 21.
