Army of the Dead is a spiritual successor, of sorts, to the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead -- Snyder's directorial debut. The film revolves around a group of mercenaries who attempt to pull off the heist of the century during a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas.

Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell and Garret Dillahunt, among others, will star in the film. Army of the Dead's screenplay comes from Joby Harold and Shay Hatten, and is based on a story by Snyder. He and his wife, Deborah Snyder, will produce the film with Wesley Coller through their production company The Stone Quarry.
