When the Marvel Cinematic Universe introduced Ultron, his actions also introduced the long-lasting concept that superheroes shouldn't be as readily trusted as they were in the past. From the Sokovia Accords to the Department of Damage Control, Ultron succeeded in pitting at least some of the world against heroes. But with his rumored resurrection in Armor Wars creating speculation, Ultron's return could lead to the debut of even more intimidating enemies.

In Ms. Marvel, Damage Control proved that it was more than capable of hunting down enhanced individuals if need be. Sadly, Kamala Khan was on the receiving end of these hunts as the organization used Stark Drones to hunt her down. Being that Kamala was later revealed to be a Mutant, it made her persecution all the more uneasy. But should Ultron return as a weapon of Damage Control in Armor Wars, that could lead to another robotic menace that terrorized Mutants: the Master Mold and its Sentinels.

What Is the Master Mold?

Master Mold and Sentinels in X-Men comics

The Master Mold was introduced in X-Men #15 (by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Jay Gavin) and was the creation of scientist Bolivar Trask, the father of the Sentinel Program. Trask was obsessed with robotics, and his Master Mold creation was designed to continuously produce the MK 1 Sentinels en masse. Master Mold's initial design was quickly defeated by the X-Men, but as the years went on, its history grew more complex as it rebuilt itself, similar to Ultron's many versions.

With its core programming to destroy Mutants, Master Mold used more than Sentinels to achieve its goals. This even included mind control which he used on Moira MacTaggert to create a virus that would depower and kill infected Mutants. However, no matter how creative the Master Mold became, it never diverted from its ultimate goal of destroying the Mutant race and, in that sense, might be an even more calculating version of Ultron than ever. That said, its MCU debut through Ultron would be anything but easy.

Ultron's Tech Could Lead to Sentinels

Damage Control has proven time and again to act first and think about the consequences after the fact. This was shown when one of its agents decided to apprehend Kamala by force in a public place. Therefore, believing Damage Control could wield a version of Ultron isn't outside the realm of possibility. That said, even if War Machine could stop Ultron in Armor Wars, there's still a digital signature that could remain on the web. If so, that flicker could be found by scientists or agents of Damage Control and be used to better capture enhanced individuals.

Should Trask be revealed as one of those scientists in Armor Wars, it could kickstart a chain reaction that could bring about Master Mold and the Sentinel Program. With the persistence of Ultron minus the emotion, Master Mold could create the deadliest version of the Sentinels yet. Furthermore, it could tease yet another return for Ultron that's more powerful than ever. If that were to happen, the X-Men and future MCU Mutants would have their work cut out for them long before they've even appeared.
