Armie Hammer is looking to trade in his cowboy hat and spurs for a nice suit and lots of gadgets. Deadline reports the actor, whose The Lone Ranger debuts from Disney on July 3, has signed on to star opposite Tom Cruise in Warner Bros.' The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Based on the classic '60s spy show, the film has gone through a series of directors and stars, but the studio seems to think it finally has something here. Guy Ritchie (Snatch, Sherlock Holmes) signed on to direct in December, and more recently Cruise's name began circulating. His involvement is apparently confirmed at this point.

The original series starred Robert Vaughan as Napoleon Solo and David McCallum as Illya Kuryakin, agents of the United Network Command for Law Enforcement. The pair traveled all over the world trying to snuff problems out using fancy James Bond-style gadgets.
