Many fans have been convinced Armie Hammer would return to superhero films following his near-miss with director George Miller's abandoned Justice League Mortal, in which he was to play Batman. For the past year or so, the actor has been rumored for roles in Justice League and Green Lantern Corps, as Hal Jordan, and in Shazam!, as the title character. Now, however, Hammer denies he has any plans to appear in a superhero movie.
While promoting Call Me By Your Name on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Hammer discussed both the canceled Justice League Mortal and his possible future in the capes-and-tights genre.
"For me there’s not, like, a huge rush," he said. "Would I love to own a huge house? Yes, for sure. But at the end of the day I’m more interested now in my artistic credibility."
However, that doesn't mean that he wouldn't eventually accept a superhero role. However, it depends on who's directing, and what ideas they have for the film. But for the moment, "no one’s asked and I’m not going out of my way to do it."
So maybe don't give up on those dreams for Green Lantern just yet.
