Archie Comics has unveiled a teaser image that suggests a new comic starring the fictional band The Archies will debut in March 2017.

The image, posted on the publisher's Facebook page, depicts an illustration of a guitar, accompanied by the text, "Segura. Rosenberg. Eisma. SUGAR."

Segura and Rosenberg are likely the writing team of Alex Segura and Matthew Rosenberg, who previously collaborated on "Archie Meets Ramones," which centered on The Archies -- the band formed by Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead and Reggie --  as they meet The Ramones for some rock 'n' roll inspiration after tanking their performance at the Riverdale High Battle of the Bands.

Eisma is likely Joe Eisma, who has been the interior artist for "Archie" since Issue 13, and provided variant covers before that. He is perhaps best known for his work with Nick Spencer on the Eisner-nominated Image Comics series "Morning Glories."

"Sugar," of course, refers to The Archies' 1969 radio hit "Sugar, Sugar." Despite being attributed to a cartoon-character band, the single spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and was also No. 1 in the United Kingdom for eight weeks. Ron Dante, Toni Wine, Andy Kim and other studio musicians provided the actual vocals and instrumentation.

It is unclear whether the new "The Archies" comic will be an ongoing or limited series.
