The ComicsPRO Annual Membership Meeting between retailers and comic book publishers is now underway in Memphis, Tenneesee, and CBR has the first word on one of Archie's announcements at the conference: "Little Josie and The Pussycats," a one-shot from -- who else? -- Art Baltazar and Franco.

Here's the official description of the one-shot, scheduled for release on May 10: "Josie and The Pussycats’ drummer Melody comes across colorful kitties and decides to adopt them as band mascots. But these aren’t ordinary kittens-- they’re magical, and they’re about to rock Little Josie, Valerie and Melody’s world like never before!" The issue will have a main cover illustrated by Baltazar, along with variants from Katie Cook and Franco.

In a time where The CW's "Riverdale" TV series has earned Archie Comics attention for a notably more adult take on its characters, the company's publishing side has also again embraced the squarely kid-friendly "Little" versions of its famous properties. Baltazar and Franco have teamed a "Little Archie" one-shot in April, and a "Little Sabrina" one-shot in April.

Baltazar and Franco are well known for their distinctive "Tiny" versions of comic book characters, most notably "Tiny Titans" at DC Comics and "Itty Bitty Hellboy" at Dark Horse Comics; along with their own creation, "Captain Action Cat." In 2010, Baltazar and Franco teamed for a "Tiny Titans" and "Little Archie" crossover.

This isn't the only Archie-related news from Thursday at ComicsPRO: The company has also teamed up with Marvel to publish digests of Marvel Comics releases, similar to the Archie Comics digests that have been a presence at comic shops and grocery store checkout lanes for decades.
