After spending nine years (mostly) on Earth, Archer is heading into space for Archer: 1999, the show's tenth, and possibly final, season.

In this trailer, H. Jon Benjamin's Sterling Archer, Aisha Tyler's Lana and the other characters from the critically-acclaimed animated series are cast as the crew of a spaceship, with Amber Nash's Pam and Chris Parnell's Cyril becoming decidedly inhuman aliens.

While this critically-acclaimed animated series started out as a spy satire, the past two seasons of the series have focused on high-concept storylines where the show's characters have starred in a noir mystery and an island adventure while the real Sterling Archer lies in a coma.

Taking inspiration from sci-fi series like Battlestar Galactica and Space: 1999, the trailer seemingly embraces a retro-future aesthetic and has specific references to everything from Aliens to Star Trek and the gladiatorial competitions of Sakaar from Thor: Ragnarok.

The trailer also revealed that the show's 8-episode Season 10 will being on May 29.

When Archer was renewed for three seasons in 2016, series creator Adam Reed stated his intention to end the show after 10 seasons. While it's not clear if this will still be the final season of the show, Archer: 1999 seems set to tackle plenty of sci-fi tropes as Archer's cast heads into space, the ultimate danger zone.

Archer: 1999, starring H. Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walter, Judy Greer, Chris Parnell, Amber Nash and Lucky Yates, is set to premiere to May 29 on FXX.
