The numbers are in and James Wan's Aquaman has officially become the second-highest grossing DC Extended Universe film domestically, surpassing Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in the process.

According to Box Office Mojo, Aquaman earned $1.885 million in its ninth weekend, bringing its domestic total up to $331 million. This pushes the movie past Batman v Superman, which grossed $330 million domestically in 2016. However, Aquaman is still far away from netting the number one spot, which is held by Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman at $412 million.

Despite mixed reviews from critics, Aquaman has been praised by fans as a welcome divergence from the general problems many had with Snyder's films. The movie has been a major success overseas, where it has raked in $799 million for a worldwide total of $1.13 billion. Aquaman is currently the highest-grossing DCEU film worldwide, and the eighth-highest grossing superhero film ever, ranking between Captain America: Civil War and The Dark Knight Rises.

Aquaman is set for digital release on March 5 and will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray on March 26. Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus and Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna.
