Take a deep breath... the Aquaman trailer is here.

The moment DC fans have all been waiting for has finally arrived. Warner Bros. took Comic-Con International's Hall H by storm with a massive movie panel that showcased the studios' biggest upcoming movies. While fans got a taste of many DC Extended Univers movies such as Wonder Woman 1984 and Shazam!, what everyone couldn't wait to get their hands on was the first footage of James Wan's Aquaman. Well, the trailer has finally dropped, and now fans are free to go over it as much as they want while they await the film's December release.

There was a ton of anticipation surrounding the film's first trailer and Warner Bros. didn't disappoint. The trailer showcased the stunning underwater CGI elements of the film, while teasing an epic story of brothers, kings and honor. The Justice League film didn't go into much details when it came to Arthur Curry's Atlantean heritage, but now we can clearly see that all of the classic beats from the comics are here.

Here's a complete rundown of everything we've learned from the Aquaman trailer.

Young Arthur Curry

The trailer starts by going right into the origin of Arthur Curry. Aquaman can be heard talking about love over shots of his father, a lighthouse keeper, rescuing his Atlantean mother, Queen Atlanna. The two characters quickly fall in love and, from that union is born young Arthur Curry. Next, we see the character at a young age, getting bullied while out on a field trip at an aquarium. While the two bullies joke that Arthur is "talking to the fish," they have no idea how right they truly are; seeing Arthur's state of upset, shark smacks his head into the glass, cracking it.

From then on, everyone in attendance can see that all of the fish in the aquarium, the big and the small, answer to Arthur. Thus, the Aquaman's power appears to be born out of distress, and with a simple shot, the trailer proves that talking to fish is by no means a useless superpower.

Welcome To Atlantis

After Mera comes to the surface world to find Arthur, a warning of things to come and a "the worst pep talk ever" are enough to convince Arthur to head home -- and that's when we catch a glimpse of Atlantis in its full glory. Justice League had given us a glimpse of the underwater kingdom, but it appears what little we saw of it was not a just representation of its actual scope.

When Atlantis finally comes into full view, it appears as a breathtaking kingdom filled with life and color. Its structures are alien in all the right ways -- it's exactly what you'd expect a highly-advanced and ancient civilization that lives underwater to create. Its vessels are futuristic, like the city istelf, and they look like they belong in a sci-fi epic. The submerged kingdom's structures are bright and luminescent, filled with life and technology that hovers between science and magic. Its inhabitants, from the men to the Fisherman King, show that the city is a hub for different races.

War is Brewing

Thanks to the arrival of Mera, we learn the main source of the conflict that will drive the film forward. She explains that Arthur's brother and current King of Atlantis, Orm, is on the precipice of declaring war on the surface world. While we don't yet know Orm's reasons for wishing to attack the surface world, it's clear that he has the means to do irreparable damage. First off, we see the force he can unleash with a tidal wave that comes crashing down upon the shores of Amnesty Bay.

But that's not all. Orm doesn't simply have great power -- he also has a massive army at his beck and call. Soldiers can be seen riding giant sea horses and menacing sharks, each ready to do battle. The only hope for preventing war is for Arthur Curry to stop his brother, challenge him for the throne... and take it.

Enter the Trench

The New 52 relaunch of DC Comics began with a new start for Aquaman and Mera, who went up against an army of sea creatures known as the Trench. These terrifying, water-dwelling monsters posed a grave threat, and it appears like they have made the transition to the big screen. On a few occasions during the trailer, the swarm of the Trench can be seen attacking. At one point, we see them coming after Mera and Arthur on a small boat that appears to be lifted straight from the New 52 comics.

Then, further in the trailer, the monsters can once again be seen, this time deep underwater, roaring as a red light passes them by. It's unclear how the Trench factors into the movie as of now, but one thing we can say for certain is that they look as terrifying as they did in the comics.

Villains From the Land and the Sea

As the potential conflict between Atlantis and the surface world intensifies, Aquaman will face villains who will come from two fronts. On the one hand, there is his evil brother Orm, who is hellbent on declaring war on the rest of the world. He seems to be driving a more personal conflict for Arthur, who is a creature of both land and sea -- someone with two homes, and none at the same time.

But another threat will also come from the surface, in the form of Black Manta. We don't see a whole lot of the villain in the trailer, but what little we do see confirms that the character will be as awesome as he is in the comics. The Black Manta armor is just as amazing as we all hoped it would be, which looks like a high-tech piece of equipment that can go underwater and shoot explosive laser beams from its glowing red eyes.

A Battle for the Throne

The Aquaman trailer leaves us hanging with a tease at a breathtaking set piece that sees two different armies of Atlantis go to war with one another. If we had to hazard a guess, we'd wager that one army answers to Aquaman, while the other is loyal to Orm. It appears that a full-on battle for the fate of Atlantis, and the rest of the entire world, is unfolding, a confrontation that is set to feature all manner of sea creatures.

But that's not the only battle that goes on. There is also one that is much smaller in scale: a confrontation that appears to be a duel between brothers... A duel for the throne of Atlantis. Arthur Curry is the challenger, while Orm is the defender. Aquaman comes from the outside, looking to put a stop to his brother's reign, and to lead in his place. Where one brother rules in anger, the other answers to Atlantis' call for love, and hope.

This is where the movie's elements of fantasy seem to shine brightest. Aquaman may be a superhero film, but it also harbors strong overtones that belong in a sword-and-sorcery epic like Game of Thrones. If anything, this first trailer showed us that this movie will be unlike anything DC has given us yet.

Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry, and Dolph Lundgren as Nereus. It is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 21.
