By any metric, Aquaman is one of DC's most successful films and successfully ushered in a new era of the DC Extended Universe. One of the James Wan film's most memorable scenes was Arthur and Mera's fight against Black Manta and Orm's Atlantean troops atop the roofs and ancient ruins of an Italian village.

Now, YouTuber Mr. Sunday Movies has rendered a 16-bit tribute to that epic brawl. The 11-minute clip looks like something that was originally meant to be played on the Sega Genesis.

It starts with a blast of an intro before morphing into a side-scrolling beat-em-up before changing into a one-on-one fighting game between Arthur and Manta and back again.

This beatdown sequence is part of a special program on Mr. Sunday Movies' channel called 16-Bit Scenes, created by animator John Stratton. At the five-minute mark, Stratton gives the viewer a brief making-of-video commentary breaking down his process and favored moments.

The video ends with a side-by-side scene comparison so you can see both the full movie scene in its entirety and the pixelated short.
