We're currently just over one month away from Warner Bros.' latest superhero blockbuster, Aquaman, making waves at theaters across the nation. Ahead of the film's release, though, images from Aquaman: Arthur's Guide to Atlantis have washed up, giving fans a glimpse at why Nicole Kidman's Queen Atlanna left her young son behind on the surface."Arthur, I've left you in this world for a reason," reads the letter Atlanna left behind for a young Arthur Curry. "It will help shape you and mold you into the person you need to be someday. I know you will be strong, but this world will also give you a big heart, something every hero needs."

From the looks of things, Atlanna's decision to leave her son behind isn't one that she made lightly. However, if Arthur's heroic actions in Justice League are any indication, his mother clearly knew what she was doing.

Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, and Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna. The film opens on December 21.
