While Marvel's movies helped propel Disney to a record-breaking year at the box office, Aquaman has already broken some records of its own.

On the ticketing site Atom Tickets, Aquaman has set a pre-sales record and eclipsed all of this year's other highly-anticipated movies like Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2.

As Variety notes, this is most likely due to Atom Tickets' exclusive offer that allowed Amazon Prime subscribers to buy tickets for advance screenings of the film on Dec. 15, almost a week before the movie's theatrical wide release on Dec. 21.

Atom Tickets co-founder and chairman Matthew Bakal said, "Clearly, Aquaman has captured the attention of movie fans with its larger-than-life adventure that must be seen on the big screen.”

Even though Aquaman's official release is still a week away, the film is already a success for the DC Extended Universe. In just under a week, the film has earned $153.3 million dollars in China, which puts it far ahead of other DC movies and many Marvel movies in that market.

Thanks to solid early reviews, it's expected to make $65 million in North America during a crowded holiday launch window that includes competition from Bumblebee, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Mary Poppins Returns.

Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, and Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna. The film opens on December 21.
