James Wan's Aquaman will feature Amber Heard reprising her role as Mera, and the 31-year-old actress has now shared a new behind-the-scenes look at her character in the highly anticipated DC Comics-based solo film.
The image seems to come from reshoots/additional footage on the film. "Aquafied yet again," Heard wrote alongside the photo, which she posted on Instagram.
Heard made her debut as Mera in Justice League, though her role in that film was relatively minor. Aquaman will see her playing a much larger role in the DC Extended Universe.
An early screening of Aquaman met with positive reactions in February. However, fans should keep in mind that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad and Justice League were all well-received at their test screenings as well, only to be critically-panned later.
In October, Wan’s Aquaman wrapped production. The film, which will mark Aquaman’s first solo outing on the big screen, has been described as “Star Wars underwater,” with Wan promising that fans can expect a “swashbuckling action-adventure, sort of high seas adventure story.” Although the film is coming out later this year, Warner Bros. hasn't released a trailer for the film yet.
Arriving in theaters on December 21, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temeura Morrison, Dolph Lundgren, Ludi Lin, Michael Beach, Nicole Kidman and Willem Dafoe.
