IMDb has long been the internet's hub for straight answers to classic questions such as, "Who was the guy in that one movie?" and "What was the name of that movie where either Bill Pullman or Bill Paxton did that thing?" and the interest of users in finding these answers results in a metric of popularity for actors and movies that updates continuously.

To little surprise, to kick off 2019, it's the stars of Aquaman who seem to be dominating searches. Both Amber Heard and Jason Momoa have kicked off the year in the top two spots on the site's "STARmeter."

Heard has been appearing in projects since 2004, with guest spots on shows like Friday Night Lights, Californication and The OC, but it was her role opposite Seth Rogan in 2008's Pineapple Express that really launched her into the mainstream consciousness. She's since appeared in movies like Drive Angry, The Rum Diary, Zombieland and snagged the lead role in NBC's short-lived The Playboy Club series. However, her current role as Mera in Aquaman is the biggest of her career so far.

As for star Jason Momoa, he got his start on shows like Baywatch and Stargate: Atlantis but hit it big as Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones.  Although he only appeared in 10 episodes of the show, it was enough to launch him into stardom. He snagged lead roles two different shows -- The Red Road and Frontier -- as well as the villain turn opposite Sylvester Stallone in Bullet to the Head. His superstar opportunity, though, much like Heard, came with Warner Bros.' current line of DC movies, which saw him as an unconventional-yet-popular choice to play the classicly clean-cut and blonde-haired Aquaman.

To date, Aquaman has won the box office each of its first two weeks of release, grossing about $190 million so far, and setting the bar for overseas sales among the current DC franchise of films. This has been a much-needed win for the DC movies after the luke-warm reception of Justice League.

Aquaman, which released just before Christmas, is directed by James Wan, based on a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and Will Beall. In addition to Momoa and Heard, the film boasts a star-studded supporting cast that includes Patrick Wilson (who many are calling DC's best villain so far), Dolph Lundgren, Willem Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, and voice work by John Rhys-Davies, Djimon Hounsou and Julie Andrews.
