Pre-production on the upcoming "Aquaman" film is officially in full swing. Director James Wan took to Twitter earlier today to post a photo of him with a portion of the official cast, including Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa, Amber Heard (Mera), and the recently added Patrick Wilson (Orm/Ocean Master). Noticeably absent is actor Willem Dafoe, who is set to make his debut as Nuidis Vulko in "Justice League" later this year before joining Momoa in "Aquaman."

The photo was taken of the group during a table read for the forthcoming feature, and while it doesn't necessarily reveal anything, seeing the cast come together should excite those that have been waiting some time for the King of Atlantis to headline his own solo film.

And if that tweet from Wan wasn't enough to get you excited for the film, the following post from makeup artist Melanie Inglessis may get you there. Taking to Instagram, Inglessis posted a photo of her and Heard with a caption implying that she was working with the actress on something Mera-related.

Although filming is still a bit off, assuming Momoa's comments from earlier this month still hold true, it's highly possible that the actress is doing make-up tests for the film. Then again, it's also possible that she's doing something -- possibly reshoots -- related to "Justice League," where we know Heard will make her debut as Mera ahead of "Aquaman."

Wan ("Saw", "Insidious") will direct the upcoming feature from a script written by Will Beall ("Castle", "Gangster Squad"). "Aquaman" will swim its way into theaters on October 5, 2018.
