The global box office gross for Aquaman is approaching $1 billion.

The new DC film, which has earned over $265 million in the United States, has proven to be a major global success. The film has already earned over $700 million from international markets, making it one of the three biggest DC films ever released. Now, it's approaching an even bigger accomplishment.

Deadline reports that Aquaman is expected to earn over $1 billion at the box office. It will be the third DC film to accomplish this, behind Dark Knight and Dark Knight RisesAquaman is currently on track to earn more then Dark Knight Rises and potentially even challenge Dark Knight to become the most successful DC film ever released.

The film is a massive hit with countries in Asia, particularly China. The film has earned over $284 million in China alone, with the movie is so popular that it received an extended theatrical run.

Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus and Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna. The film is now in theaters nationwide.
