Jason Momoa revealed in a new interview that Warner Bros. and DC's Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom features more comedy than the first Aquaman film."This Aquaman, this time around, I feel like we're pulling out all of the stops, buddy," Momoa revealed during an interview with Fandango, posted on Twitter. "Like, it's... we all learned something on the first one. It's exciting because I haven't made too many sequels." Momoa added that "even on the page, it's absolutely wonderful." "There is so much going on. I think the stakes are a lot higher," he said. "There's a lot of comedy. So, I mean, I giggled reading it.RELATED: The Aquaman 2 Stealth Suit's New Look and Abilities, Explained

Momoa also explained that the action sequences in the film are even more impressive than those featured in 2018's Aquaman. "I think just in the last three or four years, just technology's constantly... it's just moving at such a rapid pace that what we're doing with underwater... I mean, that's what made the first one so amazing," the actor said. "So, it's just gone on to a whole other level, so I'm excited for everyone. Because it's just a lot more heart. There's a lot more at risk."

Momoa's comments come nearly a month after director James Wan teased that the sequel will be more complex than the first film. Specifically, Wan explained, "There are more complexities in Aquaman 2 than in the first movie...This is just stuff that I learned along the way, and it's what I find intriguing as a filmmaker, and I try to take everything that I've learned from each film, and carry them with me to my next movie." The director also teased back in August that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was inspired heavily by the 1956 horror classic Planet of the Vampires.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom arrives in theaters on Dec. 16, 2022.
