Jason Mamoa says he's going blonde for Aquaman 2, teasing a comics-accurate Arthur Curry in the DC Extended Universe sequel.

"I am finally in England. It is sunny out, it's amazing and I'm going to start Aquaman 2 tomorrow. This is the last day of the brown. Gonna be a blonde. Supposedly they have more fun. I don't know about that, we'll test it out," Mamoa said in a video posted to his Instagram story. Arthur Curry/Aquaman has been blonde in the comics since he first appeared in More Fun Comics #73 in 1941.

Officially titled Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, filming for the sequel began in June 2021, with Mamoa now joining the rest of the cast and crew in London nearly a month later.

Mamoa has played Aquaman/Arthur Curry in the DCEU since 2016 when he first appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The actor even helped in scripting the Aquaman sequel's first draft, along with Wan and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. "And all of our hearts are in it," Momoa said at the time. "Instead of just getting a script and doing that. You're 100% being encouraged by your director and co-writers so that's exciting for me. And I'm excited to go over there."

Fans can confirm whether or not blondes have more fun when they see Mamoa, along with Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Dolph Lundgren and Pilou Asbaek, when Aquaman 2 arrives in theaters Dec. 16, 2022.
