After including the horrifying "Trench scene" in 2018's Aquaman, many fans have been wondering if director James Wan plans on including more horror in Aquaman 2.

"I would say 'yes,'" Wan recently said in response to a fan who asked if there would be horror elements in Aquaman 2. "Just like the first movie had a touch of my horror sensibility, you know, in regards to the Trench sequence. I would say there will be a little bit of that in this next one."

Wan's directorial debut was the massively popular 2004 horror film, Saw, and he would go on to direct some of the most popular recent horror movies, including 2007's Dead Silence, 2010's Insidious, 2013's The Conjuring and many more. Additionally, Wan is set to work with Supernatural's Robbie Thompson on an upcoming monster movie from Universal.

There haven't been many updates about the upcoming Aquaman sequel, however, the film will show the return of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II's Black Manta as well as Patrick Wilson's Orm/Ocean Master. Aquaman 2's writer, David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, also revealed that the Silver Age Aquaman comics will inspire elements of the film.
