Fans can now get a full look at the costumes for the hero and villain of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Collider visited the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, NV, where full-size versions of the costumes for Aquaman and Black Manta were both on display. Manta's Silver Age-inspired costume was previously shared in an image from the movie, but the latest images show all sorts of details not visible in that shot. Likewise, fans got a look at Aquaman's new stealth suit last year, but the latest shots better highlight the details on the front and back. Check out a couple of the images below and visit Collider for even more.

The first look at the upgraded Black Manta's new costume, which pulls inspiration from both the Silver Age of DC's comic and the New 52 era, was shared last year by director James Wan. "Black Manta (played by the talented and badass Yahya Abdul-Mateen III) and his ship/tech inspired by the aesthetic of the Silver Age (and New 52, thank you Ivan Reis) comics," Wan wrote in the caption when he shared the image of the actor in his new costume on social media. "Months and months of meticulous detailing were spent on costume and production designs."

The detail can clearly be seen in the costume photos Collider captured, which promise the new film will have a unique look and tone within the DCEU by embracing a classic comic book aesthetic. The same is true of the new suits Jason Momoa will be wearing in the film. Along with the stealth suit seen at the expo, which pulls inspiration from the '80s era, Aquaman will wear an updated gold and green outfit that fully dives into the world of comic book costumes.

"Atlantean tech based on cephalopod's camouflaging ability. [Screenwriter] David Leslie Johnson and I were inspired by the '80s 'blue suit,'" Wan said on social media when he first shared the two new costumes Momoa will wear in the sequel. The blue stealth suit and its camouflage abilities come from the 1986 limited series Aquaman by Neal Pozner, Craig Hamilton, Steve Montano, Joe Orlando, and Bob Lappan. Clearly, the creatives behind Aquaman 2 did their comic book research.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hits theaters March 17, 2023.
