Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom star Amber Heard uploaded a video of her working out at home ahead of her return as Mera in the DC Extended Universe film.

The video was posted to Heard's verified Twitter account along with the hashtag "Aquaman 2" and a caption reading, "Abs-olutely dying!" Heard indicated she was preparing to reprise her DCEU role in April, around the same time her costar Patrick Wilson confirmed he had begun training to return as Orm in the Aquaman sequel.

In the DCEU, Mera is the princess of Xebel, one of the seven underwater kingdoms. She has hydrokinetic powers allowing her to control the water around her, be it in the ocean or on dry land. Heard first played Mera in the 2017 theatrical cut of Justice League, prior to reprising the character a year later for Aquaman. The latter film ended with Arthur Curry claiming the throne of Atlantis from his half-brother Orm and using Atlan's trident to take control of the seven seas, with Mera by his side.

Six of the seven underwater kingdoms -- Atlantis, Xebel, the Kingdom of the Trench, the Kingdom of the Brine, the Kingdom of the Fishermen and the Kingdom of the Deserters -- were featured in the first Aquaman movie. The mysterious seventh kingdom was briefly referenced but otherwise did not play a role in the film's story. Director James Wan, who also helmed the original movie, confirmed the sequel is titled Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, implying the missing kingdom will be the focus of its plot.

Jason Momoa will reprise his role as Arthur Curry for the Aquaman sequel and is taking a hands-on approach to the film's creative process. In addition to pitching the movie's story, he co-penned the first script draft with Wan and Aquaman screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. "[All] of our hearts are in it," said Momoa in a previous update. "Instead of just getting a script and doing that. You're 100% being encouraged by your director and co-writers so that's exciting for me. And I'm excited to go over there."

Directed by James Wan, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Dolph Lundgren and Pilou Asbaek. The film arrives in theaters Dec. 16, 2022.
