Everyone's favorite fast-food trio, the Aqua Teen Hunger Force, is returning to television.

According to a press release, Adult Swin has renewed Aqua Teen Hunger Force for Season 12 from original creators Dave Willis and Matt Maiellaro, following the release of the Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Plantasm feature film. "We are thrilled to be making more Aqua Teen Hunger Force episodes for a new generation of fans, building upon the most impressive collection of IP ever assembled," said Maiellaro and Willis, adding, "Success is optimal and leads to quality,"

The two went on to joke about the release of the second Aqua Teen Hunger Force film, saying, "Congratulations! You waited just long enough for Aqua Teen Forever: Plantasm to be free on the service your parents pay for. I can't wait for you to discover the project everyone has been talking about, and by everyone, I mean our personal Twitter accounts." They ended by joking about how there's too much to watch on HBO Max and how people should exclusively watch their movie and delete everything else.

While Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Plantasm landed on HBO Max on Feb. 8, 2023, it's planned to premiere on the Adult Swim channel on Mar. 12, 2023. While no details are available on the release dates of the new episodes, Adult Swim has confirmed that the order will consist of five all-new episodes. Whether they'll follow the 10-minute length of previous seasons is also unknown.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force New Episodes

Aqua Teen Hunger Force initially aired on Dec. 30, 2000, as part of Cartoon Network's late-night programming block, which would later become Adult Swim. The series followed the misadventures of three sentient food products -- Frylock, a floating box of fries with laser eyes; Meatwad, a brainless ball of meat; and Master Shake, a loudmouth milkshake and self-proclaimed leader. The series ran for 11 seasons and became increasingly irreverent, repeatedly changing the show's name in the final seasons.

The first film, Aqua Team Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters, was released on Apr. 13, 2007, and while critics negatively received it, most fans rated it relatively high, with it sitting at a 7.3 user score on Meta Critic. The franchise's second film, Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Plantasm, currently has a 100% Critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on five reviews. Adult Swim aired an unofficial twelfth season on Youtube titled Aquadonk Side Pieces that consisted of 10 three-minute episodes.
