For All Mankind takes place in an alternate history where the space race between the United States and Russia never ended. Season 2 will begin in 1983 at the height of the Cold War. The U.S. and Soviets engage in a heated race to mine materials from the moon, with NASA being militarized by the Department of Defense. The series focuses on several characters and their reaction to the events, as mankind finds itself at the height of a conflict that may lead to nuclear war.

For All Mankind explores what would have happened if the global space race had never ended. The series presents an aspirational world where NASA astronauts, engineers and their families find themselves in the center of extraordinary events seen through the prism of an alternate history timeline — a world in which the USSR beats the US to the moon.

Created by Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi, For All Mankind stars Joel Kinnaman, Michael Dorman, Sarah Jones, Shantel VanSanten, Wrenn Schmidt, Jodi Balfour, Krys Marshall, Sonya Walger, Cynthy Wu, Coral Peña and Casey W. Johnson. Season 2 premieres on Apple TV+ on Feb. 19, 2021.
