The Recon class saw big buffs back in Season 6 of Apex Legends, giving Bloodhound some tender love and care that transformed the legend into one of the best. As Apex Legends gets ready for the new Fight Night event, players will be hard-pressed not to encounter Bloodhound on an enemy squad.

Bloodhound is a Technological Tracker. Their ability to scan buildings to highlight enemies is useful for scoping out locations and aggressively pushing opposing teams. Bloodhound's abilities are all about gathering intel, which the tracker learned as a game hunter in the Outlands and adapted for the Apex Games.

Much like Pathfinder, some of Bloodhound's personal information is lacking. Their real name and age are unknown, according to Respawn's official website. Bloodhound is the child of two engineers stationed at the New Dawn industrial plant on Talos. A tragic meltdown killed both Bloodhound's parents, and they were taken in by their uncle Artur.

Artur taught Bloodhound the Old Ways, a belief system that rejects modern technology, embraces nature and worships the Norse gods. Regardless of their strict upbringing, technology tempted Bloodhound. The Stories from the Outlands installment "The Old Ways" features Bloodhound's attraction to technology after discovering a Charge Rifle while on a hunt and sacred rite of passage. After the creature sneaks up on them, Bloodhound uses the weapon to defeat it. Despite their success, Artur is displeased Bloodhound used technology to kill the creature and sends them into exile.

Before Bloodhound can leave, a Goliath wanders in the village. Bloodhound fears for the villagers' and their uncle's lives and springs into action, using a combination of technology and the Old Ways to take down the beast. Unfortunately, Artur succumbs to injuries sustained during the encounter with the Goliath. The incident marks a turning point in young Bloodhound's life, where they realize a balanced combination between the old and new is what works best in battle.

It's not exactly clear why Bloodhound joined the Apex Game,s other than their belief that "destiny is a path that has already been laid out." Regardless, it's not surprising Bloodhound becomes a multiple Apex Games' champion due to their world-class tracking skills.

Apex Legends - young Bloodhound

Of all the legends, Bloodhound is the only one to have a companion. Frequently seen in-game, their raven is named after Bloodhound's late uncle Artur. Considering the Technological Tracker's connection to Nordic mythology, Artur is likely a nod to Huginn and Muninn, a pair of ravens said to travel the world to bring information back to the god Odin.

Bloodhound appears to get along with most of the legends aside from Pathfinder. Artur, the raven, frequently pecks at Pathfinder. Respawn even created a skydive emote that features an attack on the robot. It seems the raven may be feeding off Bloodhound's dislike of the robot rather than sharing his namesake's disdain for technology.

In the Season 3 cinematic trailer, Bloodhound says, "For Artur," before shooting Pathfinder. It's clear Bloodhound and Pathfinder have beef, but whether it stems from the tracker's Old Ways upbringing or another reason is yet to be determined.

Bloodhound is Apex Legends' only non-binary character and uses they/them pronouns. In an interview with Wired, Respawn's Mohammad Alavi and Griffin Dean talk about the importance of representing diversity in the battle royale. They wanted to make Bloodhound's voice androgynous so anyone identifying as non-binary could relate to the legend.

Although Bloodhound's defining transition from the Old Ways to Technological Tracker is well documented, there is still mystery surrounding the legend -- particularly their apparent dislike of Pathfinder. Considering there hasn't been much Bloodhound action since Season 4's Old Ways event, Apex fans are hopeful more lore is soon to come.
