AP Comics, Diamond Sign Booktrade Agreement

Official Press Release

APComics has selected Diamond Book Distributors as the exclusive U.S. and non-exclusive worldwide distributor of titles to the bookstore, library, warehouse, and mass merchandise markets, as well as its exclusive worldwide distributor to the hobby and specialty game and comic market.

Founded two years ago by Richard Emms and Phil Littler, APComics (APC) bills itself as "the UK's leading independent comic book publisher," with Emms himself serving as writer on the flagship title, Monster Club, as well as the science fiction series B1n4ry. The company also publishes several other titles including the action-adventure series Assassin School and the award winning series, Darkham Vale - to name just a few. The company has also teamed up with a literary agency and is planning to publish original graphic novels (OGN) based on bestselling children's novels. Harry Gallan, known for the bestselling novel The Lexian Chronicles will be producing the script for the prequel to the Darkham Vale series.

"APC has made impressive strides in its early years," said Diamond Vice President of Purchasing Bill Schanes. "They offer a variety of genres to suit many tastes and also have a solid record of being on-time with what they promise their readers. They've already begun to generate attention and buzz amongst comics fans, and as they begin to release their popular titles as trade paperbacks and graphic novels, we expect to see interest grow."

"Signing with Diamond Book Distributors is, in anyone's eyes, a pivotal point of any publisher's plans and it is, to APC, more important than anything else that has happened within the company since it formed in 2002," said APComics Publisher Richard Emms.

"We are all extremely excited with the prospects that Diamond Book Distributors can bring. We have always insisted that a TPB should follow any series as it makes sense to offer it to the fans who might have missed out in the beginning and indeed to stores that only stock Graphic Novels and Trade Paper Backs.

"Making inroads into the US market is hard for any publisher, especially one that's offices are outside that country's origin. But with regular output of comics and great backing from fans around the world, APC has managed to get the needed publicity to make an impact".

Diamond's Sales Team will begin working with bookstores, book wholesalers, warehouse clubs, mass merchandisers, and libraries to place APC's titles across the country.
