Kicking off the list is Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out. As you probably guessed, the anime follows Hana Uzaki who just wants to hang out with her upperclassman Sakurai Shinichi. However, Sakurai wants to be left alone to his peaceful quiet life. Together the two get into many antics together as their relationship continues to grow. This anime is for fans who love ecchi elements in their comedy. Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out will be adapted by studio ENGI and projected to air during the summer 2020 season.

9 Hamefura: I Reincarnated into an Otome Game as a Villainess With Only Destruction Flags

An isekai anime with a long title can only mean the token light novel adaptation of the season! Hamefura: I reincarnated into an Otome Game as a Villainess With Only Destruction Flags is an isekai anime following eight year old Katarina Claes.

She is the daughter of a prestigious duke in a fantasy world. Suffering a head injury, she remembers that she was an otaku school girl who loved to play the otome game, "Fortune Lover." Now stuck in the game, Katarina is the villainess of "Fortune Lover" and must reach a good ending. Hamefura will be adapted by Silver Link Studio during the spring 2020 season.

8 Come Together! To the Seton Academy

A school for animals, Seton Academy is home to students of all types. Jin Mazama is one of the last remaining humans at the school with fellow human Hitomi Hino. Jin has a crush on Hitomi but can’t get a moment alone with her due to wolf girl Ranka Ookami. The two join Ranka’s pack feeling bad that she doesn’t have many friends and starts a cooking club. They meet more animal students that join the club and get up to different antics each episode. With more members, Jin has less of a chance of confessing to Hitomi but develops a soft spot for Ranka. Come Together! To the Seton Academy was adapted by Studio Gokumi during the current winter 2020 season. The anime is one season and projected to be 12 episodes.

7 Isekai Quartet Second Season

You probably expected that a few isekai anime would make this list, and what better than the most isekai anime out there, Isekai Quartet. A new series has been added to the “quartet” with Naofumi and company from The Rising of the Shield Hero. While Naofumi isn’t in the main class with the other characters of season one, he makes frequent appearances throughout the series.

Isekai Quartet 2 is an anime short running at 11 minutes per episode. Adapted by Studio PuYUKAI, the anime is currently airing during the winter 2020 season. The series is two seasons and is projected to be 12 episodes.

6 Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!

One of the top airing anime from this current 2020 season, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! brings us the story of three girls doing something their passionate at. Midori Asakusa and Tsubame Mizusaki both have a love for creation and specifically in anime. The two work together with money lover Sayaka Kanamori to form the motion picture club at school. Working with various other clubs at a warehouse they’ve named Eizouken (Meaning motion picture studies). If this anime isn’t for you, you might be able to enjoy the series’ opening theme as it’s one of the best of the season. Keep Your Hands off Eizouken was adapted by studio Science SARU. The anime is one season and projected to be 12 episodes.

5 Student Council Staff Members Movie 2

The only anime film on this list, Student Council Staff Members receives its second film. The film follows a cast of returning characters in Shino Amakusa, Suzu Hagimura, Aria Shichijou, and Takatoshi Tsuda. Takatoshi previously transferred to Ousai Academy, an all girls school that has recently allowed males due to declining birth rates. Now a member of the student council, Takatoshi continues to get scolded by the girls at the academy. Student Council Staff Members Movie 2 will be adapted by studio GoHands on July 10, 2020. The anime is two seasons and this film is a direct sequel to Student Council Staff Members Movie.

4 Rent-a-Girlfriend, Kanokari

Kazuya Kinoshita is a newly single man after his girlfriend breaks up with him. Unable to cope with the loneliness, Kazuya rents a girlfriend named Chizuru Mizuhara. She appears to be his dream girl, checking all the boxes for qualities he looks for. The catch is that she has bad reviews on her profile. Feeling as he’s being used, he calls Chizuru out for manipulating the men she meets.

Called to the hospital on their date, Chizuru visits his grandmother who recently collapsed. However, his grandmother thinks Chizuru is his real girlfriend and the two are forced into a fake relationship. Rent-a-Girlfriend, Kanokari will be adapted by studio TMS Entertainment during the summer 2020 season.

3 Dropkick On My Devil!! Second Season

If you are a fan of anime tropes, then this is the series for you. Dropkick on My Devil!! Second Season features the return of Jashin-chan and her friends. The series features slapstick humor of Jashin-chan and Yurine Hanazono fighting back and forth to the point of almost killing each other. While these two are the main characters, the series has other story lines with Pekora searching for a job, Minosu helping out anyone she can, and Medusa trying to be the best influence on Jashin-chan she can be. Dropkick on My Devil!! Second Season was originally adapted by studio Nomad and will be released during the spring 2020 season.

2 DanMachi: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon Third Season

One of the longest running anime on this list, DanMachi: Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon is back this year for its third season. Bell Cranel has come a long way in harnessing his power under the Hestia Familia. Of course, the goddess will be returning too to get into more antics with Bell.

Rounding out the list is the most controversial anime of 2020 so far. Interspecies Reviewers has been the talk of the winter 2020 season, for walking the thin line of how explicit anime can be. Besides its adult theme, the anime’s comedic elements are some of the funniest scenes in anime of recent years. If off-colored humor is your preference, this is the anime for you. Interspecies Reviewers was adapted by studio Passione. The anime is one season and projected to air for 12 episodes.
