Anthony Mackie, co-star of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and future lead of Captain America 4, has given fans an idea of the length of his contract in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In an interview with Variety, Mackie was asked how many decades he was signed under contract in the MCU. "I hope the next two decades -- that's what I'm hoping for," Mackie replied. "So if I can be 65 and still doing this, I'm crushing it." Mackie has had a part in the MCU since 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier as Sam Wilson, formerly known as the superhero Falcon. More recently, Mackie has replaced Steve Rogers as Captain America following the events of Avengers: Endgame and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

When asked whether he had any idea that his role as Sam Wilson would go on to be featured in one of the MCU's first blockbuster television shows, Mackie stated that he didn't. "I was very skeptical and very surprised about the idea of a tv series," he said. "I didn't think we would be able to translate onto television what we do on film, but I was blown away and surprised by how well they were able to keep the amazing scope of the film Marvel industry and take it onto Disney+."

In The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Mackie plays a starring role along with his co-star Sebastian Stan, who portrays Bucky Barnes, as the duo explore their existence as heroes following the departure of Steve Rogers' Captain America. After being given Rogers' shield following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Sam has to navigate what it means to be step up to the mantle of Captain America, as well as how to represent the role as a Black man in America. By the end of the series, Sam Wilson accepts the Captain America title, changing his costume to match.

Directed by Kari Skogland and written by Malcolm Spellman, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/The Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/Captain America, Erin Kellyman as Karli Morgenthau, Adepero Oduye as Sarah Wilson, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, Clé Bennett as Lemar Hoskins/Battlestar, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley and Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo. The first season is available to stream on Disney+.
