Star Anthony Mackie is ready to make his mark as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's new Captain America in the upcoming film Captain America: New World Order and he means to top one of Chris Evans' best Cap fights.

Speaking with E! News, Mackie explained he has several ideas for his silver screen debut as the Star-Spangled Man. "I want a fight scene that rivals Chris Evans' fight scene in the elevator [in Captain America: The Winter Soldier]," he said. "When he fought like 10 dudes in the elevator. That was a badass scene. The first time I saw that, I was like, 'That's crazy.' So I just want a fight scene that rivals that."

From Falcon to Captain America

The Winter Soldier, the second instalment in the Captain America saga, premiered in 2014 and is considered by many fans and critics to be one of the franchise's finest entries. The story sees Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Natasha Romanov (Scarlett Johansson) uncover HYDRA's infiltration of S.H.I.E.L.D. and fight to stop the authoritarian organization from achieving absolute power. It also serves as the MCU introduction for Mackie's character, Sam Wilson.

Throughout the majority of the MCU, Sam operated under the superhero codename Falcon, but at the end of Avenger's Endgame, Steve passed on the iconic shield to Sam, signaling his retirement and the start of a new era. The Disney+ series Falcon and the Winter Soldier depicts Sam's journey from resistance to acceptance in terms of his new role. The series also explores the complicated history of the Captain America mantle.
